Wilhelm Eichhorn

Wilhelm Eichhorn (born October 30, 1846 in Bofsheim , † January 16, 1923 in Neuendettelsau ) was an Evangelical Lutheran pastor and rector of the Diakonie Neuendettelsau .

Eichhorn was born as the second of the three sons of Pastor Carl Eichhorn in Bofsheim. After studying theology in Erlangen and Leipzig, he worked as a pastor, including at the Old Town Church in Erlangen. From 1909 to 1918 he was rector of the deaconess institution.

Together with Hans Meiser , he founded the auxiliary sisterhood (today: Diakonische Schwestern- und Brotherhood), to which women should belong who were active in diakonia, but without belonging to the diaconal community like the deaconesses . His other main areas of work were pastoral care, especially of the mentally ill, and administration.
