Hermann Schoenauer

Hermann Schoenauer (born May 22, 1950 in Fürth ) is pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria and was rector and chairman of the Diakonie Neuendettelsau from 1990 to 2015 .

Career

Schoenauer studied theology and graduate education in Erlangen and Bamberg . From 1977 to 1979 he worked as a vicar in Munich. After his ordination in 1979, he worked as a parish pastor in Velden and Oberferrieden from 1979 to 1987 . In 1987 Schoenauer joined the Diakonie Neuendettelsau as vice principal. In addition, he was the department director for the hospital system within the Diakonie Neuendettelsau. In 1990 Schoenauer took over the office of rector and chairman of the board of Diakonie Neuendettelsau. Until his retirement in 2015, Schoenauer worked on the conversion of the Diakonie Neuendettelsau into an internationally active diaconal institution in order to adapt it to the changed framework conditions of social policy and the welfare state . During his tenure, the number of employees rose from almost 3,000 to around 7,000.

From 1990 to 2007 Schoenauer was the editor of the correspondence sheet of the diaconal communities of Neuendettelsau. Since 2008 Schoenauer has been editor of the journal “Diakonie & Spiritualität” of the Ecumenical Spiritual Center (ESC) of Diakonie Neuendettelsau, as well as publisher of the series “Dynamic Living” in Kohlhammer-Verlag (since 2010).

In March 2008 Hermann Schoenauer was awarded an honorary doctorate (Dr. hc) from the University of Ovidius in Konstanz / Romania. The honor was suggested by Archbishop Teodosie from Tomis, Dean of the Theological Faculty. The award is an appreciation of Schoenauer's services to the ecumenical dialogue between the Evangelical Church and the Romanian Orthodox Church as well as the social commitment of Diakonie Neuendettelsau in Romania and other Eastern European countries. Since March 31, 2007 Hermann Schoenauer has been the bearer of the Order of Dobruja, Romania.

Schoenauer is a lecturer for diaconal science at the Augustana University in Neuendettelsau (there also a member of the Diaconal Science Society), university professor at the Romanian-German University of Sibiu / Hermannstadt , member of the advisory board of the Catholic Academy in Health and Social Services in Bavaria, board member of the Kaiserswerther Association , Member of the board of trustees of the Bavarian Hospice Foundation , member of the supervisory board of EKK (Evangelische Kreditgenossenschaft eG) and chairman of the supervisory board of Acredo-Beteiligungsgesellschaft.
