Wilhelm Feldmann (born February 10, 1910 in Cologne , † April 7, 1994 in Berlin ) was a German officer and politician. As a member of the block party National Democratic Party of Germany , he was Minister of the German Democratic Republic.

Life

Feldmann was born in Cologne-Deutz in 1910. He began to study law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität and in 1930 became a member of the Corps Teutonia Bonn. When he was inactive , he moved to the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . In 1934 he passed the first state examination in law. In 1936 he was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD . After the assessor exam (1938) he worked in industry. In 1937 he joined the National Socialist German Workers' Party . As a lieutenant of the Wehrmacht Feldmann came in Soviet German war in captivity, in which he was "retrained" at the Antifa school in Krasnogorsk . He later taught there and at the Antifascist Front School in Moscow . Released from captivity and returned to Germany, Feldmann joined the NDPD in the Soviet occupation zone in 1949 and was soon a member of its executive board.

From 1949 to 1967 he was a member of the (Provisional) People's Chamber and from 1950 to 1958 Minister for Light Industry in the GDR Council of Ministers . After the temporary dissolution of the industrial ministries , he was a member of the State Planning Commission from 1958 to 1961 and of the GDR's Economics Council from 1961 to 1963 as head of the light industry department.In 1963/64 he was deputy chairman of the State Contracting Court at the GDR's Council of Ministers and then from 1964 to 1973 Vice-President of the Office for Inventions and Patents of the GDR . A disability pensioner since 1974, Feldmann became a member of the GDR-Africa friendship society in 1975 . After the cooperative accession of the NDPD to the Bund Free Democrats in March 1990, Feldmann was temporarily a member. He later joined the FDP .
