Werner Buschmann

Werner Buschmann (born January 3, 1931 in Lichtenstein-Callnberg ) is a former German politician ( SED ). He was Minister for Light Industry in the GDR .

Life

The son of a worker received training as an administrative clerk and worked from 1948 to 1952, initially for local government bodies and in 1952 as a consultant in the Saxon Ministry of Economics and Labor. From 1952 to 1961 he was an employee of the State Planning Commission . He completed a distance learning course at the Humboldt University in Berlin and the Karl Marx University in Leipzig , which he graduated in 1957 with a degree in economics.

From 1961 to 1964 he was head of department in VEB large lathe construction “7. October “in Berlin , before he was head of department for local industry in 1964/1965, later as head of department for economic councils in the National Economic Council and from 1965 to 1968 as head of department in the Ministry of District Industry and Food Industry. From 1968 to 1976 he was a member of the central committee of the SED, among other things as deputy head of the light, food and district-managed industry.

From 1976 he was State Secretary and First Deputy Minister for District Industry and Food Industry, from December 1978 to November 1989 - as successor to Karl Bettin - Minister for Light Industry and member of the Council of Ministers .

From March 1976 to February 1979 Buschmann was also a member of the SED district leadership in Berlin.
