Gutach (Black Forest Railway) is a municipality on the Baden Black Forest Railway on the Gutach River in the central Black Forest in the Ortenau district . The municipality bears the official addition Black Forest Railway to distinguish it from Gutach im Breisgau , which is located in the Breisgau a little further south in the district of Emmendingen . Together with the neighboring villages of Kirnbach and Reichenbach, Gutach is the home of the Bollenhut . This part of the local costume is now known worldwide as a symbol for the Black Forest.

history
Gutach belonged to Württemberg until 1810 .
In the border treaty between Württemberg and Baden , which was concluded in Paris on October 2, 1810, several “staffs” from the Hornberg Upper Office, such as Gutach, the towns of Hornberg and Schiltach and the Kirnbach community, came to the Grand Duchy of Baden .
There, the town belonged first to the district office Haslach and then fell in 1864 to the district office Wolfach , from 1939, the district Wolfach was.
When this was dissolved in 1973, Gutach came to the new Ortenaukreis .
Religions
A church has been mentioned in Gutach since 1275, which was built by the Lords of Hornberg .
The place has been predominantly evangelical since the introduction of the Reformation .

Economy and Infrastructure
traffic
As the name suggests, Gutach is located on the Black Forest Railway between Triberg and Offenburg , Germany's oldest mountain railway. However, Gutach no longer has a train stop. The Gutach open-air museum stop at Vogtsbauernhof for the Ortenau S-Bahn has been in existence since the 2014 timetable change . Neighboring places on the railway are Hornberg and Hausach . The federal road 33 leads through the village .
education
In addition to the Hasemannschule, a primary school , there is a kindergarten in Gutach .

Gutach is located on the Großer Hansjakobweg , a hiking trail that leads past many sights.
Museums
In Gutach there is the Vogtsbauernhof open-air museum with several old farms from the Black Forest and numerous historical outbuildings.
leisure
Another attraction for guests since August 2004 has been the park with all the senses with a 2.1 km long barefoot path . In July 2006 the new Gutach-Bob summer toboggan run opened .
War memorial
The local sculptor Curt Liebich created the war memorial for those who fell in the First World War .
