Neighboring communities

The community borders in the north on Sasbachwalden , in the east on Baiersbronn in the Freudenstadt district , in the south on Ottenhöfen and in the west on Kappelrodeck .

Community structure

There is no community structure in the legal sense. The Seebach community includes the Achert, Bosenstein, Busterbach, Geisdörfle, Grimmerswald, Hinterseebach, Koppenhöfen, Legelsau, Maisental, Markteich, Scherzenteich, Schwarzenbach, Schwarzenkopf, Silbergründle, Tannenteich and Wildenberg farms, the Aufs Deckershof, Bohnertshöfe, Hubershof, and Schnurrenhof farms , the Darmstädterhütte, Mummelsee and Wolfsbrunnen residential areas and Vorderseebach. In the municipality are the abandoned villages Illerhöfe (but possibly also renamed) and Lenderswald.

history

The upper Achertal was probably settled in the 12th century, and individual farmsteads have been mentioned in documents since the 13th century. Due to the sometimes extremely steep slopes, agriculture was only possible in the narrow Achertal and some side valleys. Seebach was able to retain its character as a scattered settlement into the 20th century. The place only became a politically independent municipality in 1818.

For a long time Seebach belonged to the district of Bühl , with the southern part of which the new Ortenau district came in 1973 . It is the smallest municipality in the Ortenau district in terms of population.

Religions

Seebach, which is predominantly Roman Catholic , used to belong to the parish in Ottenhöfen . In 1924 its own church was consecrated and in 1932 Seebach also became an independent church.
