Community structure

The municipality of Hofstetten includes the village of Hofstetten, the hamlet of Mittelweiler, the Zinken Salmensbach and Ullerst, the farms of Altersbach, Breitebene, Mattenmühle, Schneiben (Schneit) hof, Daughtermannsberg and the residential areas at the white fountain, Biereck, Halden, Ho (c) hmunde and Laugh.

history

Hofstetten was first mentioned in a document in 1353. At that time it was subordinate to the Counts of Fürstenberg . There it belonged to the Upper Bailiff's Office in Haslach since the 16th century. In 1806 the place fell to the Grand Duchy of Baden , where it initially belonged to the now district office of Haslach. When it was dissolved in 1857, Hofstetten came to the Wolfach District Office, which was renamed the Wolfach District in 1939 .

In the Middle Ages , the rulership rights were linked to the Heidburg - with the exception of the Breit plane, which belonged to the margraviate of Baden-Hachberg and Freiamt until 1868 .

In 1933, the NSDAP achieved the worst result in central Baden with 15.6 percent , while the Catholic Center Party received 80.4 percent of the votes. The NS district leader later sent armed SS men to the village to have the center community council arrested because they refused to resign, whereupon they hid in the forest. Since 1973 the place belongs to the newly formed Ortenaukreis.

Religions

Since the Reformation passed Hofstetten, the place is still predominantly Roman Catholic today.

coat of arms

Blazon : "In blue on a green shield base, a silver church in side view with a tower attached to the rear with an octagonal top."

The church in today's coat of arms shows the St. Erhard parish church completed in Weinbrenner style in 1835 ( see below ). As early as 1685, a seal image in a round shield surrounded by a cloud section shows a church with a tower attached to the rear on the long side, another seal image from 1715 in a similarly framed Baroque shield shows a house with a brickwork protruding at the right corner. The circumferential cloud section is reminiscent of the former belonging to the Fürstenberg region until 1806. Since the middle of the 19th century, the seal of the community has shown the St. Erhard Church, completed in 1835, with the tower at the back on a grass floor. In 1906 the picture was placed on a shield and more recently refined.
