history
The builders of the Heidburg are unknown - the Counts of Fürstenberg are believed to have owned the castle repeatedly. In 1284, the castle complex was first mentioned as "Burg zu Haidberg" when it was sold to the Lords of Schwarzenberg . In the 14th century the castle was pledged by the Fürstenbergers to the gentlemen giving ("Geburen") and then to the gentlemen Malterer . Kaspar von Klingenberg and various lords of Blumenegg , Heinrich von Geroldseck and Bernhard von Eberstein , Konrad von Tübingen-Lichteneck and Berthold von Staufen as well as the Swiss Counts of Falkenstein were also part owners of the Ganerbeburg . In 1519 Jakob von Falkenstein sold the entire Heidburg to Count Friedrich von Fürstenberg . The Heidburg was destroyed before 1623. In the 19th century the inner castle area served as a quarry, which explains the name Steinschlössle . Strategically, the Heidburg was to be seen as a border castle between the rule of Kinzigtal and the Elztal. A moat and a well shaft are still preserved from the former castle complex .
The Heidburg is located near the Black Forest crossroad Rottweil – Lahr and the Zweälersteig .
