Geographical location
The state-approved resort of Mühlenbach is located in a side valley of the Kinzig valley in the central Black Forest . The stream of the same name flows through the village.

The municipality borders in the north on the cities of Haslach and Hausach , in the east on Gutach , in the south on the city of Elzach in the district of Emmendingen and in the west on Hofstetten .

history
Mühlenbach belonged to the Wolfach district and on January 1, 1973 moved to the newly formed Ortenau district.
Religions
Mühlenbach is known for its Roman Catholic Church Sankt Afra , with the second largest flower carpet in Germany and large processions .
The pastor of the Catholic parish is Klaus Klinger. Most of the inhabitants of Mühlenbach belong to a Christian denomination .

In September 1993 Karl Burger (* 1952) was elected as the new mayor, in 2001 and 2009 he was confirmed in office with over 90% of the votes.
On September 24, 2017, Helga Wössner was elected as the new mayor with 61.1% of the vote.

The community is on the federal highway 294 ( Bretten - Freiburg im Breisgau ).
The next train station is in Haslach in the Kinzig valley on the Black Forest Railway . There is a connection to the regional trains of the Südwestdeutsche Verkehrs-AG (SWEG) , which operate under the Ortenau-S-Bahn brand , and the regional express trains Karlsruhe - Constance of the DB Regio .
education
In Mühlenbach there is a Roman Catholic kindergarten and a primary and secondary school . There is a secondary school in Haslach im Kinzigtal and a grammar school in Hausach.
Media attention
In July 2018, Mühlenbach made headlines across Germany when a 16-year-old novice paraglider fell into the roof of the church.
