Wilhelm Hallwachs (politician)

Konrad Wilhelm Hallwachs (born July 2, 1786 in Darmstadt ; † May 27, 1860 there ) was a German politician and Minister of State in the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

education and profession

Wilhelm Hallwachs studied law and was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD . He worked as a lawyer and later in the ministerial career. He became a secret councilor and president of the council of state. In 1848 he was a member of the preliminary parliament . From June 1848 to 1850 he was Minister of the Grand Ducal House and Foreign Minister in the government of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

He was a co-founder of the Association for Science, Literature and Art in Darmstadt.

family

Hallwachs was the son of the bailiff Georg Hallwachs (1751–1797) and his wife Maria Katharina nee Wagner. Georg Hallwachs and Friedrich Hallwachs were his brothers.

Wilhelm Hallwachs was married several times. His third marriage was on July 30, 1821 in Bickenbach Maria Wilhelmina, born Sartorius (1794–1884), the daughter of the professor and vice-rector at the Darmstadt grammar school Ernst Ludwig Sartorius.
