Wilhelm Haupt

Gotthard Emil Theodor Wilhelm Haupt (born July 6, 1846 in Stralsund , † January 26, 1932 in Breslau ) was a German theologian and senior consistorial advisor.

Wilhelm Haupt was a son of the Stralsund teacher Christian Friedrich Samuel Haupt (* 1803) and his wife Wilhelmine, b. Roennberg. One year after his birth, his parents moved to Szczecin . After attending the Marienstiftsgymnasium , Wilhelm Haupt began studying theology in Berlin in 1863. After graduation, he worked for two years as a private tutor in Karow in Mecklenburg and then as an assistant preacher in Zettemin and Roßla . Haupt took part in the Franco-German War as a hospital chaplain in Orléans and received the war memorial for non-combatants .

After a brief position as a teacher at the Gütersloh grammar school , Haupt came to Putbus as a castle preacher in 1873 and also became a religion teacher at the local pedagogy . In the fall of 1881 Haupt became a prime minister. Appointed to the St. Marienkirche in Stargard . A year later, he was appointed superintendent of the Diocese of Stargard.

At the beginning of 1900, the main consistorial councilor, court and palace preacher at the palace church in Stettin was appointed . Then the appointment as general superintendent of the newly formed district Liegnitz of the church province of Silesia followed. The Protestant theological faculty of the University of Wroclaw awarded him an honorary doctorate . During his retirement, Wilhelm Haupt was committed to land reform. The Soil Reformers Association appointed him a member of its board.

Haupt was married to Clara "Käthe" Manness, the second daughter of the tax inspector Allvill Manness in Stettin. The marriage had eight sons. Two sons died as company commanders in France during World War I , three were seriously wounded.

Wilhelm Haupt was buried next to his wife in the New Salvator Cemetery in Breslau.
