Wilhelm Löbbe

Wilhelm Löbbe (* 1890 in Oberaden ; † 1950 in Bochum ) was a German designer , inventor and manager in the mechanical engineering industry.

Life

From 1904 to 1906 learned Wilhelm Löbbe the locksmith in the Union Ironworks Westfalia in Luenen (then Altlünen ). From 1909 to 1911 he worked for the machine works Germany in Dortmund and the company Eisenkonstruktion in Altenderne-Oberbecker , which later became Harpener Bergbau AG . From 1912 to 1914 he attended the Elberfeld-Barmen mechanical engineering school and then worked in the Pilgrim machine factory in Lüdinghausen .

In 1919 he became a works assistant in the design office of the Eisenhütte Westfalia trade union. After running his own company for water turbines and textile machines together with his brother in Bramsche from 1920 to 1921 , he became head of this design office. He rose to senior engineer, in 1927 to authorized signatory and in 1948 to technical director .

After 1931, the production of machines for coal mining and dismantling promoting underground had begun Löbbe designed a number of construction plans for mining machines, most recently the Westfalia quick planing too, " Löbbe planer called".

Honors

In 1957, a 20-D-Pfennig (+ 10-D-Pfennig) special postage stamp (welfare stamp) from the German Federal Post Office showed a picture of the Löbbe plane as part of the “Helfer der Menschheit” campaign .

In Lünen, Wilhelm-Löbbe-Allee is named after the engineer.
