Wilhelm Nabert

Wilhelm Julius August Nabert (born September 15, 1830 in Braunschweig , † 1904 in Düsseldorf ) was a German landscape painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Nabert initially learned a craft, as well as drawing and painting with the Brunswick landscape painter Heinrich Brandes at the Collegium Carolinum. In 1856 he went to Düsseldorf. At the Düsseldorf Art Academy he was a student of the landscape painter Hans Fredrik Gude . From 1858 to 1861 he lived in Karlsruhe . There he and his classmate Arthur Nikutowski followed the painter Carl Friedrich Lessing , who had been appointed director of the Grand Ducal Badische Gemäldegalerie in 1858 . Then he returned to Düsseldorf, where he attended the landscape class of Oswald Achenbach and Carl Irmer at the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 1862/1863 . From 1863 to 1865 he worked as a teacher in Braunschweig.

Nabert went on study trips to central and southern German mountains, often to the Harz Mountains , as well as to Switzerland, Italy and the Pyrenees. In Dusseldorf, where he resided at the Count Chaussee 58, 1889, he was in 1857-58 and again from 1865 to 1904 member of the Artists Association paintbox and the Association of Düsseldorf artists for mutual support and assistance to which he and Heinrich Deiters and Emil Schuback in In 1894, after 50 years of existence, wrote a memorial.

With his works, mostly forest and mountain landscapes, Nabert was represented in exhibitions in Berlin, Bremen, Danzig, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Hanover and Magdeburg, among others.
