Wilhelm Rieger
Wilhelm Rieger (born May 7, 1878 in Saarburg , Alsace-Lorraine , † March 15, 1971 in Stuttgart ) was a German economist .
Life
Rieger first studied law from 1914 , then from 1916 economics at the University of Strasbourg , where he received his doctorate on November 16, 1918 with the dissertation “The reasons for the transition to the gold standard in Germany”. He had been a full-time lecturer at the Nuremberg Commercial College since 1919 , and a full professor there since 1925 . Ludwig Erhard is one of his students there , and he felt grateful for his teacher . From 1928 Rieger was full professor for private business studies at the University of Tübingen . Erich Preiser completed his habilitation with him in 1930. Wilhelm Rieger made a fundamental contribution to the constitution of this subject, particularly with his comprehensive “Introduction to Private Business Studies”. In 1947 Rieger retired. From 1928 to 1942 he also held a teaching position for business administration at the TH Stuttgart .
