Wilhelm succeeded in taking joint ownership of the von Plettenberg estates, which had previously been owned by von Schönrath, and took over the Bollheim house . However, after several lawsuits that went as far as the Reich Chamber of Commerce, he had to grant his stepson Franz von Hompesch this property and be satisfied with a settlement of 4950 gold guilders.
