Count Wilhelm Johann Ludwig von Wedel (born November 15, 1837 in Oldenburg , † April 25, 1912 at Sandfort Castle ) was a Prussian officer and district administrator .

Life

Wilhelm von Wedel came from the original noble family Wedel . His parents were the Oldenburg lieutenant general Friedrich Wilhelm von Wedel (* March 28, 1798 - July 14, 1872) and his wife the Freiin Wilhelmine Bertha Sophie von Glaubitz (* June 21, 1802; † December 27, 1887).

He attended high school in Oldenburg.

When he joined the 4th Cuirassier Regiment in Münster on March 1, 1855, he began a military career in the Prussian Army . By the end of October 1866 Wedel was promoted to Rittmeister in the 6th Cuirassier Regiment . He then moved to the General Staff and was on October 3, 1871 Major before its on November 2, 1871 farewell took. He was a war participant in the Franco-Prussian War in 1864 , 1866 and 1871 . On March 1, 1903 Wedel was given the character of a colonel .

From February 4 to 27 May 1874 and from 1 November 1874 to 1875 he was in charge of the local administration of the district Lüdinghausen until it definitively on 15 November 1875 to the District of Lüdinghausen circle was appointed. At his own request, he was dismissed from civil service in 1905.
