William Carruthers
William Carruthers (born May 29, 1830 in Moffat , Dumfriesshire , † June 2, 1922 in Norwood , Surrey ) was an English botanist specializing in dendrology . Its official botanical author abbreviation is “ Carruth. ".
Live and act
Carruthers headed the botanical department of the British Museum from 1871 to 1895 . In 1871 he was elected a member of the Royal Society .
Honors
The genus Carruthersia Seem. from the plant family of the dog poison plants (Apocynaceae) has been named after him.
