Williamsport is a city in the United States in the US state of Pennsylvania and the seat of the county council of Lycoming County .

General

Williamsport is on the west side of the Susquehanna River in the Appalachian Mountains . The population was 28,834 in 2016.

The city is known beyond Pennsylvania as the birthplace of the Little League . The venue for the annual Little League Baseball World Series is now in neighboring South Williamsport .

The first endpoint was Williamsport Tidewater pipeline , the first long-distance oil - pipeline in the world.

Economy and Infrastructure

Williamsport is the headquarters of Lycoming Engines , a well-known manufacturer of aircraft engines. The local airport is Williamsport Regional Airport .
