Willy Rehberg
Willy Rehberg (born September 2, 1863 in Morges ; † April 21, 1937 in Mannheim ) was a Swiss pianist, composer and music teacher.
Life
Rehberg studied at the Zurich Music School with Robert Freund , a student of Ignaz Moscheles and Franz Liszt , and at the Leipzig Conservatory , where he then taught piano. In 1890 he went to the Geneva Conservatory , where, among other things, he was the teacher of Emil Frey . In 1907 he became a teacher at the Dr. Hoch's Conservatory in Frankfurt. From 1917, he and Max Welcker headed the City University for Music and Theater in Mannheim. From 1921 to 1926 he was director of the Basel Conservatory , after which he taught again in Mannheim until 1933.
Rehberg edited piano works by Georg Friedrich Händel , Johann Sebastian Bach , Ludwig van Beethoven , Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Max Reger , Jan Ladislav Dussek , Johann Nepomuk Hummel and Carl Reinecke , mainly for teaching purposes , and arranged Mozart's 9th Piano Concerto (KV 271) and among others Adolf Ruthardt's La Soirée dansante . Willy Rehberg was the father and first teacher of the pianist Walter Rehberg .
