Winning moves
Winning Moves is an American game publisher specializing in author games , board and card games developed by well-known game authors . Winning Moves games have been among the winners or finalists of all major game awards for many years . In the meantime, the publisher is concentrating on combining well-known game concepts such as Monopoly , Cluedo , Trivial Pursuit or Risk (game) with well-known brands such as Frozen , Harry Potter (film series) and the like.
The company was founded in 1995 when four experts in the market went into business for themselves.
- Tom Kremer was a longtime agent and mediator of game designers, he discovered Ernő Rubik and the Rubik's Cube ,
- Phil E. Orbanes was Head of Development at Parker Brothers and responsible for Monopoly ,
- Mike Meyers, Development Manager at MB Games ,
- Alex Randolph , game author and inventor of around 150 published games, including: Twixt , Sagaland (developed with Michel Matschoss ), Frenzy Robots and Incognito (developed with Leo Colovini ).
The company has three subsidiaries in Germany (for the entire German-speaking market), France and Great Britain. For a long time each of the daughters set their own priorities in the selection of the published games.
Michel Matschoss was managing director of the German branch of the publishing house in Düsseldorf until June 2009 . After his retirement, the company was led by Thierry Karpiel. Matthias Mierau will lead the company from March 2012. Under his leadership, Winning Moves Germany is also implementing an international concept in which the focus will be on licensed games instead of author games. The partnership with Hasbro , which Monopoly already has, will be expanded globally and become the company's focus .
