Wital Michajlau ( Belarusian Віталь Сяргеевіч Міхайлаў , Russian Виталий Сергеевич Михайлов Witalij Sergejewitsch Michajlow; born August 24, 1986 in Wizebsk ) is a Belarusian speed skater .

Career

Michajlau started in Heerenveen for the first time in the speed skating World Cup in November 2003 and finished 25th in the B group over 5000 m. At the individual distance world championships in Nagano in 2008 , he achieved the 24th place over 5000 m and the 18th place over 1500 m. In January 2011 he came in 39th place at the Sprint World Championship in Heerenveen. He achieved his best placement at the European all- around championship in 2016 in Minsk with 12th place. At the individual distance world championships in 2016 in Kolomna he finished 17th over 5000 m and 16th place over 1500 m and fourth place in the mass start at the individual distance world championships in 2017 in Gangwon . In the 2016/17 season he achieved his first top ten finishes in the individual World Cup with sixth place in the mass start in Nagano and ninth place in the mass start in Astana . He finished seventh in the mass start at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . At the beginning of the 2018/19 season, he won his first World Cup victory in the mass start in Tomakomai . At the European all-around championship in January 2019 in Klobenstein , he was tenth in the big four-way battle. At the individual distance world championships in 2019 in Inzell , he finished 18th in the 5000 m, 16th in the mass start and sixth in the team sprint. At the beginning of March 2019 he finished 19th at the all- around world championship in Calgary . At the World Cup Finals in Salt Lake City , he achieved second place in the mass start and finally reached eighth place in the mass start World Cup .
