Vyacheslav Derkach
Vyacheslav Derkach Wassyljowytsch ( Ukrainian В'ячеслав Васильович Деркач , scientific. Transliteration Vjačeslav Vasil'ovič Derkac * 23. June 1976 in Pryluky , Oblast Chernihiv , Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic , Soviet Union ) is a former Ukrainian biathlete .
In 1994 Derkatsch played his first competition for the Ukrainian team in the biathlon world cup . So far he has two podiums and seven other top ten placements. He took part in four Olympic Games ( 1998 , 2002 , 2006 and 2010 ), with his best placings being a 23rd place in the individual and a seventh place with the relay in Salt Lake City . Between 1997 and 2005 he took part in all biathlon world championships , but the great successes failed to materialize. An 18th place in the sprint and two seventh places in the relay were the best results. Vyacheslav Derkatsch also runs summer biathlon . With the relay he was able to win the world title in Forni Avoltri in 2003 .
Derkatsch is married to the Ukrainian biathlete Oxana Chwostenko and has one son. Today they live together in Chernihiv . In 2011 he resigned as a competitive athlete due to a hip injury.
