Vyacheslav Ivanovich Dashichev

Vyacheslav Ivanovich Daschitschew ( Russian Вячеслав Иванович Дашичев ; born February 9, 1925 in Moscow ; † June 1, 2016 ibid) was a Russian political scientist and historian who contributed significantly to the détente in the East-West during the times of the Eastern Bloc .

According to the Hamburg State Office for the Protection of the Constitution in April 2008, Daschitschew was an "international figure of right-wing extremism ".

Life

Daschitschew was a son of General Ivan Fyodorowitsch Daschitschew (1897–1963). He took part in the 4th Ukrainian Front from 1943-45 as a reconnaissance officer in World War II . 1945-49 he studied modern history at the Lomonossow University and taught at the military academy "MW Frunze" . He studied until 1953 and then worked until 1959 as editor of the department for foreign military theory of the magazine military science . 1959-1968 he headed the Department of Foreign Military History of Military History magazine .

Gaining his doctorate in history in 1973 , he headed the Department of Foreign Policy Problems at the Institute for International Economic and Political Studies (ИЭМСС) of the Russian Academy of Sciences until 1990 . At the beginning of perestroika he was also a professor at the Diplomatic Academy of the Soviet Foreign Ministry. He acted as a foreign policy advisor for Mikhail Sergejewitsch Gorbachev and was considered a pioneer of East-West détente, German unity and, more generally, for human rights, democracy and the market economy. In June 1988, statements by Daschitschew about the wall on the inner-German border in the west became known.

In 1991 he taught as a visiting professor at the Free University of Berlin , in 1992 at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and in 1996 at the University of Mannheim . At that time, plans for economic cooperation for Kaliningrad were being developed with the Federal Institute for Eastern and International Studies . In 1995 he received the Friedrich Joseph Haass Prize for German-Russian Understanding. In 1998 he returned to Russia and worked at the Center for International Economic and Political Studies of the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences until 2006 .

Daschitschev's contribution to German reunification and the end of the Cold War was assessed by Gorbachev's chief advisor, Anatoly Tschernjajew , in 1999 as follows:

Connections to right-wing extremist circles

In the course of time Daschichev has increasingly turned to right-wing extremist circles. Daschitschew was a board member of the Continent Europe Foundation of right-wing extremist Patrik Brinkmann . He also gave several interviews to the right-wing extremist publisher Gerhard Frey and published articles in the National-Zeitung . He was awarded a medal by the then chairman of the Society for Free Journalism , Andreas Molau , and appeared at a party congress of the German People's Union and at NPD events . According to research by " taz " journalist Andreas Speit , Daschitschew's appearance at the State and Economic Political Society was canceled in May 2008 . a. because Daschitschew also appeared at the NPD and the Society for Free Journalism.
