Andreas Molau (born February 23, 1968 in Braunschweig ) is a German publicist . Until 2012 he was a functionary of right-wing extremist parties ( NPD , DVU , citizen movement pro NRW ). From 2005 to 2010 he was chairman of the Society for Free Journalism , the largest right-wing cultural association in Germany according to the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution .

In July 2012, Molau publicly announced that he was leaving the right-wing extremist scene and that he was in contact with the drop-out program "Aktion Neustart" of the Lower Saxony constitution protection agency . He returned his party books and terminated his employment contracts. Since then, Molau has been involved in integration and inclusion projects and gives lectures at seminars and lectures on prevention issues relating to right-wing extremist developments.

Life

Molau studied German and history to become a teacher in Göttingen and wrote an admission thesis for the state examination on one of the leading ideologues of National Socialism, Alfred Rosenberg , which was published in 1993 by the extreme right-wing publisher Siegfried Bublies , which also publishes the national revolutionary newspaper We ourselves .

During his studies, Molau worked as the responsible cultural editor at Junge Freiheit and, as a member of the German University Guild Trutzburg-Jena zu Göttingen , has been writing for the Göttingen circle and right-wing extremist papers such as Nation und Europa since the early 1990s . Due to the lack of distance to the positions of Holocaust deniers in a contribution from his department and because of a dispute in the editorial office, he had to leave Junge Freiheit in 1994 and then worked as the editor in charge of the magazine German History of the publisher Gert Sudholt, who was convicted of hate speech several times . At the end of 1996, Molau ended the authorship of these sheets under his own name.

In 1995 Molau published the historical revisionist anthology Opposition für Deutschland, published by the Berg publishing house. In addition to Molau himself, his later colleague in the Saxon state parliament Karl Richter as well as Huwald Fröhlich , Hartmut Hesse , Ansgar Hofacker , Winfried Knörzer , Hans-Ulrich Kopp , Klaus Kunze , Carl Meyerson , Harald Neubauer , Germar Rudolf , Hans B. . von Sothen , Franz Uhle-Wettler and Claus-M. Wolfschlag represented with contributions. Here he also expressed the basic motto of his political action, "to bring all right-wing parties, conservatives, nationalists, national conservatives, etc., to one table".

From 1996 to 2004 Molau was employed as a teacher for German and history at the Waldorf School in Braunschweig , without the school administration being aware of his political attitudes. After he had filed an application for leave to its operations the recently, on 19 September 2004, in the Saxony state parliament as a researcher contracted to compete fraction of the NPD, the school board withdrew his teaching license and gave him a house ban on School grounds. In November 2004, his eleven-year-old daughter and eight-year-old son were forbidden from attending school at the Braunschweig Waldorf School. Both the dismissal and the new job of Molau, but also the dismissal of the two children about two weeks later caused a nationwide sensation. Right-wing extremist media such as the NPD newspaper German Voice (DS), the National-Zeitung (NZ) and the national-conservative Junge Freiheit (JF) all spoke of " kin liability ".

Molau then worked as a parliamentary advisor to the Saxon NPD parliamentary group (until the beginning of 2006) and deputy editor-in-chief of the NPD party newspaper German Voice (until April 2007). He was the press spokesman for the Braunschweig sub-district and responsible as a spokesman in Wolfenbüttel. In the 2005 Bundestag election , he ran for the NPD as a direct candidate in the Salzgitter-Wolfenbüttel constituency. In an article in the Wolfenbütteler Zeitung on February 2, 2006, Molau, as spokesman for the local NPD, announced that a nationwide candidacy for the local elections in the city and in the district of Wolfenbüttel was planned (which, however, did not come about due to a lack of candidates and support signatures). He wanted to organize lectures on this, "as was still common in Wolfenbüttel when I came to JN when I was still at school ". For the local elections on September 10, 2006, Andreas Molau ran on the list of the NPD for the Wolfenbütteler Kreisag in electoral area IV ( Samtgemeinden Asse, Oderwald, Schöppenstedt). Andreas Molau was not elected to the district council in the election, but the NPD received a seat. After the withdrawal of an NPD member, Molau moved up to the Wolfenbüttler district council on December 16, 2007. He resigned his mandate on April 28, 2010 after having previously left the DVU.

In 2006, a drawing appeared under his name at the Tehran Holocaust Caricature Competition , although according to Molau it was not his.

Also in 2006, Molau gave an interview to the Muslim-Markt website . There he took the view that there was “not humanity in itself”, but only “races and peoples”, “whether you want it or not”.

Since May 2007, Andreas Molau has been head of the education department at the NPD party executive and as a research assistant to party chairman Udo Voigt . Regarding his rank as the alleged “chief ideologist” of the party, the political scientist Richard Stöss comments : “But the intellectualization of the NPD is in bad shape. At the moment, Andreas Molau is considered the party's chief ideologist. So far, however, he has not exactly attracted attention due to his theoretical treatises - but maybe that will come soon. "

In the Lower Saxony state elections in 2008 he was the top candidate of his party and a direct candidate in the Wolfenbüttel-Süd / Salzgitter constituency, where he received two percent of the first votes.

On October 6, 2008, Molau announced his resignation from all federal offices in the NPD, since he could no longer support the party leadership unreservedly after the "events surrounding the embezzlement of funds by the former NPD treasurer Erwin Kemna ", but remained a member of the Political party. On March 12, 2009 the DVU announced that Molau had taken over responsibility for the press work of this party and had also joined the DVU by way of dual membership. He wanted to demonstrate "that there can no longer be a conflict in the national area". At the beginning of October, Molau left the NPD after a party expulsion process had already been initiated against him.

From March 2011 he was an assessor in the state executive, but resigned from this office in June 2012 and left the party. Molau gave the infamous Ash Wednesday speech by Udo Pastörs from February 2009 as the reason for leaving the NPD and ultimately withdrawing from the right-wing extremist camp . In addition, Molau made contact with the drop-out program Aktion Neustart of the Lower Saxony constitution protection. This step is considered irreversible in the scene. In an interview with NDR he said about his responsibility so far: "I am depressed that I have hurt people and encouraged things that are unacceptable." In future, he wanted to reconcile. Lower Saxony's constitution protection authorities see the neo-Nazi scene weakened after Molau's exit.

Molau has been a columnist for integration bloggers since October 2012. In his contributions he expresses himself, among other things, on xenophobic and Islamophobic attitudes and on questions of integration. He was accompanied during the lecture by the journalist Stefan Schölermann. The journalist and blogger Tobias Raff interviewed Andreas Molau in February 2013 about his motives for turning to the right-wing extremist scene, the experiences he made there and the decision to turn his back on the scene. In an interview with the journalist Rainer Fromm, Andreas Molau and Stefan Rochow spoke about the NPD. Molau emphasized in the interview that “the entire party” and “essential structures define themselves through National Socialism”. For a contribution by the journalist and political scientist Rainer Fromm, which appeared on the ZDF program ML Mona Lisa , Andreas Molau researched and analyzed the propaganda campaign " Death Penalty for Child Abusers ", which can be found primarily in social networks and with which right-wing extremists and right-wing extremist parties such as the NPD try to To suggest closeness to the citizen.

On December 6, 2016, Andreas Molau took part as a speaker at the symposium "(Right) extremism in transition" organized by the Lower Saxony Office for the Protection of the Constitution.
