Vladimir Ivanovich Polonsky

Vladimir Polonsky ( Russian Владимир Иванович Полонский * June 5 . Jul / 17th June  1893 greg. In Tobolsk , † the 30th October 1937 in Moscow ) was a Soviet politician and trade unionist .

Life

Polonski worked as a seaman , then as an unskilled worker and finally from 1912 as an electrician in St. Petersburg . In 1912 he became a member of the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party . He was responsible for party work in the trade unions, and in 1913 he became a member of the Central Committee of the Petersburg Metalworkers' Union. In 1914 he was arrested and the 1915 Tobolsk referenced . From March 1917 he was secretary of the Central Committee of the Moscow Metalworkers Union and took part in the October Fights in Moscow .

From 1918 to 1920 he was commissioner of the divisions of the western and southern fronts, military commissioner of the Southeast Railway and chairman of the southern office of the All-Russian Central Council of Trade Unions. From 1920 to 1924 he was chairman of the organ bureau, then secretary of the Central Committee of the Miners' Union, chairman of the trade union council of the Nizhny Novgorod governorate and a member of the governorate committee of the Communist Party of Russia (KPR) there.

In 1925 Polonsky became a member of the office of the Moscow Committee and from 1928 was Second Secretary of the Moscow Committee of the CPSU . In 1930 and from 1935 to 1937 he was Secretary of the Central Council of Soviet Trade Unions (WZSPS). From 1930 to 1933 he was First Secretary of the Central Committee of the CP Azerbaijan and at the same time secretary of the Transcaucasian Regional Committee of the CPSU. Since January 1933 Polonski headed the planning department of the Central Committee of the CPSU. From April to June 1937 he was Deputy People's Commissar for Intelligence .

Polonski was a delegate of the XI. (1922) up to and including XVII. (1934) Party Congress of the KPR and CPSU. On the XV., XVI. and XVII. At the party congress he was elected candidate for the Central Committee of the CPSU. Polonski was also a member of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR.

In June 1937, Polonski was expelled from the CPSU and arrested as part of the Stalinist purges . He was the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court sentenced to death and in the Lubyanka - prison shot .

In 1958, Polonski was posthumously rehabilitated.

Honors

Polonski was awarded the Order of the Red Labor Banner .
