Wladislaus von Zator (also Ladislaus von Zator , Wladislaus von Teschen-Zator ; † 1494 ) was Duke of Zator from 1468 to 1494 . He came from the Teschen branch of the Silesian Piasts .

Life

Vladislav's parents were Wenceslaus I and his wife Maria Kopczowska († after 1468), who came from Sewerien . Before 1488 he married Anna († after 1494), whose origin is unknown. The marriage had the only daughter Agnes, who was born before 1490 and died in 1505. Before 1504 she was married to the Bohemian nobleman Jan von Tworkau .

After the death of their father in 1465, the not yet adult Wladislaus and his older brothers Casimir II , Wenceslaus II and Johann V inherited the Duchy of Zator, which they initially administered together. In 1474 they divided it into two parts, the border of which was the Skawa . The older two brothers received the eastern part, while the younger brothers Johann V and Wladislaus were assigned the western part. The town of Zator , which lies off the Skawa, and the castle there were also divided.

After Wladislaus death, who died in 1494 without male descendants, his share of the area passed to his brother Johann V. He could now call the entire area of the Duchy of Zator his own, since the two older brothers Casimir and Wenzel were also no longer alive and neither were either male offspring. In the same year he had to sell it to the King of Poland.
