In 1807 Napoleon restored the duchy of Siewierz and entrusted Jean Lannes with the duchy. After the Wars of Liberation , the city became part of Congress Poland .

As a result, the city continuously lost its importance and lost its city rights in 1870. From 1954 to 1957 Siewierz was the seat of a Gromada . From January 1, 1958 Siewierz received the status of an Osiedle . On July 18, 1962, it was given city status again.
