The Wlassakgraben is a stream in the 13th district of Hietzing in Vienna . It is a feeder of the Lackenbach .

The Wlassakgraben has a length of 620 m in its above-ground course with a height difference of 41 m. Its catchment area is 0.4 km².

The stream initially runs openly along Wlassakstraße in the settlement area of ​​the Ober St. Veit district . Initially a fortified trench, it later forms a small valley of notches. Finally, it is managed as a Bach Canal , which flows underground into the Lackenbach near the Evangelical Peace Church .

At the Wlassakgraben there is a high, if not very high risk of flooding compared to Vienna. In the event of a flood of the century , infrastructure is affected to a lesser extent, but no resident population.

history

Wlassakstrasse was named in 1931 after the doctor Rudolf Wlassak (1865–1930). The post horn settlement at Wlassakgraben goes back to the last years of the Second World War .

ecology

The Wlassakgraben is a habitat of the insect bat ( Pipistrellus pygmaeus ) and the Zwergfledermaus ( Pipistrellus pipistrellus ). In the area of ​​Jennerplatz there is a strip of wood on the banks of the river, shaped by ash trees, in which broken willows can also be found. A problematic invasive plant in the Wlassakgraben is the Japanese knotweed .
