The Lackenbach is a brook in the 13th district of Hietzing in Vienna . It is a feeder of the Lainzerbach and is run over two thirds as a brook canal .

course

The Lackenbach has a length of 900 m in its initially above-ground course with a height difference of 107 m. Its catchment area is 0.3 km². The stream only carries water periodically. It rises in the Lainzer Tiergarten and runs eastwards in a narrow ravine through a deciduous forest. After a barred opening in the wall of the Lainzer Tiergarten, it first flows a further section above ground through Ober St. Veit .

At Ghelengasse, north of the municipality mountain in Ober St. Veit, the Lackenbach flows into a 1826 m long canal. The channel runs at a depth of 4 to 5.5 m and has a gradient of 16 to 52 ‰. It takes up the Wlassakgraben on the right and flows underground in Lainz at the intersection of Jagdschlossgasse and Lainzer Straße into the Lainzerbach.

There is a very high risk of flooding at the Lackenbach. In the event of a flood of the century , the infrastructure and the resident population are affected to a lesser extent.

The Bach Canal was built in 1904, 1931 and 1935.

The Lackenbach is crossed by the following bridges, lined up in the direction of flow:

Dollgrabensteg: The 4 m long and 2 m wide wooden pedestrian bridge was built in 2000.
Lindwurmsteg: The 5 m long and 2 m wide pedestrian bridge made of steel was built in 1940.
Lackenbach Bridge: The 2 m long and 7 m wide reinforced concrete road bridge was built in 1927.
Hanschweg Bridge: The 2 m long and 9 m wide reinforced concrete road bridge over the Hanschweg was built in 1932.
