Minsk Voivodeship
The Minsk Voivodeship ( Polish Województwo mińskie ) was an administrative unit of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the Polish-Lithuanian aristocratic republic from 1566 to 1792, in what is now Belarus and Ukraine .
The seat was Minsk .
It was divided into the
- Powiat Minsk , capital Minsk
- Powiat Retschyza , main town Retschyza
- Powiat Mazyr , capital Mazyr
There was a castellan in Minsk.
history
The Minsk Voivodeship was established in 1566 and included the powiate Minsk and Retschyza. In 1569 the powiat Mazyr was attached from the Kiev Voivodeship .
In the course of the first partition of Poland in 1772, the eastern territories came under the control of the Russian Empire . In the course of the second partition of Poland in 1793, it came entirely to the Russian Empire and its territory was partially converted into the Minsk Governorate .
