Pomeranian Voivodeship (1454–1772)

The Pomeranian Voivodeship (Latin Palatinatus Pomeranensis , Polish Województwo pomorskie , German literally Pomeranian Voivodeship ) was an administrative unit in Prussia with a royal share within the Royal Republic of Poland-Lithuania . It existed from 1454 to 1772.

history

The territory of Pomerania broke away from the rule of the Teutonic Order in 1454 and, along with other areas of the secessionist Prussian Confederation, submitted to the Polish king. Then the Pomeranian Voivodeship (Pomeranian) was created. In 1466 this affiliation was confirmed in the Second Peace of Thorn .

In 1772 the entire area except Danzig became part of the Kingdom of Prussia and was incorporated into the province of West Prussia .
