Wojciech Marusarz (born May 28, 1993 in Zakopane ) is a former Polish Nordic combined athlete .

Career

Marusarz was trained at Start Krokiew Zakopane , then moved to AZS Zakopane after the club was dissolved . While he also took part in special jump competitions in the youth area , he only competed in the Nordic combined in the senior area. As early as March 2008, it competed in Polish championships for the first time, before making its first international appearance on February 28, 2010 in the Continental Cup competition in Karpacz . This performance was followed by a three-year break before he started again unsuccessfully in the Continental Cup in January 2013. A few weeks later, Marusarz took part in the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2013 in Liberec , where he took 30th place in the sprint and was eleventh with the team. At the Universiade two years later in Štrbské Pleso , he was in midfield and was only able to achieve a single-digit place with the team in sixth.

In the 2016/17 season Marusarz was used more regularly in the Continental Cup , but always missed the points. He was more successful at the 2017 Universiade in Almaty when he finished eleventh in the Gundersen Singles and ninth in the mass start. Together with Adam Cieślar and Paweł Słowiok , he was the university winner in the 3 × 5 km relay.

In the summer of 2017 debuted Marusarz in Planica in the Grand Prix , but was able to win Grand Prix points no. On the other hand, his start into the winter of 2017/18 was much more positive, with eleventh, twelfth and fourteenth places at the Continental Cup in Steamboat Springs , his best results to date. Marusarz then made his debut in the World Cup in Chaux-Neuve in January 2018 , but only reached 43rd place. The following day he took eighth place in the team competition. At the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang , South Korea , he was only placed in the lower ranks in the individual and also in the team together with Paweł Słowiok, Szczepan Kupczak and Adam Cieślar it was only enough to make it to the penultimate place.

After Marusarz started unsuccessfully in the World Cup in winter 2018/19 , he was downgraded to the Continental Cup . However, there were no successes here either, so he had to be satisfied with 81st place in the overall standings. At the end of the season he was the first Polish champion in Szczyrk .

After the 2019/20 season, Marusarz ended his career.
