Wolfgang Böhme (theologian)

Wolfgang Böhme (born March 2, 1919 in Gablonz , Czechoslovakia , † June 9, 2010 in Karlsruhe ) was a Protestant theologian, pastor, director of studies, editor and author.

life and work

Studying law at the German Karl Ferdinand University in Prague from 1937 onwards, Wolfgang Böhme graduated in 1940 with a doctorate. jur. from. He then spent five years in the Second World War. Then he entered the church service. Between 1947 and 1959 he worked as a student pastor at the University of Frankfurt , as a spiritual advisor to entrepreneurs, and was one of the founders and designers of the Protestant academy work in Germany.

From 1961 to 1975 Böhme was President of the German Evangelical Working Group for Adult Education, from 1971 to 1973 also President of the Evangelical Working Group for Adult Education in Europe. From 1966 to 1994 he was a. a. theological advisor and executive board member of the working group of Protestant entrepreneurs .

Böhme was a founding member and employee of the Evangelical Academy in Hessen and Nassau, Arnoldshain , from 1959 to 1967 director of studies at the Evangelical Academy in Bad Boll , from 1965 deputy director in Bad Boll and from 1967 to 1987 director of the Evangelical Academy in Baden in Bad Herrenalb . Following a mystic meeting of the Evangelical Academy Baden came on his initiative together with Josef Sudbrack SJ establishing the Society of Friends of Christian mysticism eV

Böhme was editor of the magazine Discussions for almost twenty years . Journal for academy work and adult education and around 50 years editor of the journal Zeitwende - Die neue Furche .
