Wolfgang Bellenbaum
Wolfgang Benno Bellenbaum (born July 3, 1928 in Oberhausen ; † June 13, 1984 Encino , California ) was a German film director , film producer and cameraman .
Life
Bellenbaum began his career in film as an assistant director . In 1952 he assisted Ernst Neubach in filming Man lives only once , in 1953 Carl Boese in Der Unkel aus Amerika and Der chaste Josef and Johann Alexander Hübler-Kahla in Hollandmädel , Steve Sekely in Die Kaiserin von China or Karl Anton in Der Vetter from thing there . In 1956 he made his first appearance as a director for the short film Kronborg , in 1960 he shot his first feature film Wir Kellerkinder under the pseudonym Jochen Wiedermann . Before moving to the United States, he worked in various functions for numerous film and television productions, primarily in Berlin . In his first marriage he was married to the makeup artist and actress Conny Bellenbaum , with whom he worked several times.
Aliases
Bellenbaum worked a lot under pseudonyms . It is known that he worked under the names John Weeran , Jochen Wiedermann or Hans-Joachim Wiedermann and Johnny Wyder . It seems confusing that he is sometimes listed in the credits of his works in different functions under different names. Bellenbaum was his real name. He is also listed under this name in the California death records.
Years in the United States
Bellenbaum met Gabriella Brum , with whom he went to Hollywood in 1980 . Brum worked as a model in Los Angeles . Among other things, she was named Miss Germany and Miss World in 1980 . She gave up the latter title the next day, supposedly because of Bellenbaum's objections, but probably because of existing nudes. In 1981 they got married. In the end they both lived separately.
Bellenbaum shot himself at the age of 55 in his Encino neighborhood of Los Angeles . The body was identified by Brum. A farewell letter was found next to the murder weapon.
