Wolfgang Blaube
Wolfgang Blaube (born February 27, 1963 in Hamburg ) is a German motor journalist, photographer and specialist book author. His areas of expertise are vintage automobiles and the general history of motorization.
Life
Wolfgang Blaube completed an apprenticeship as a body and vehicle builder at the Hamburg VW and Porsche agency Raffay & Co from 1979 . After his journeyman examination , he worked for various dealerships for sports cars, racing cars and vintage cars in Hamburg, Munich and Los Angeles, mainly as a buyer.
From 1989 he worked as a copywriter. In 1990 he also began writing articles for car magazines, initially for the classic car magazine Motor Klassik . In 1997 he finally switched entirely to motor journalism. Since then he has written numerous articles and series for Auto Bild and other magazines. In addition, he works as a television commentator and expert for various automobile broadcast formats, as well as a moderator and course spokesman at classic car events, for example since 2005 at the Hamburg city park race , where he regularly shares the microphone with the former speedway world champion Egon Müller .
Wolfgang Blaube is a member of several international professional associations for automotive history, such as the Society of Automotive Historians. Since 2013 he has been chairman of the Automobile History Society . As their representative, he is also a member of the parliamentary group Automobiles Kulturgut in the German Bundestag and a founding member of the IAK Initiative Automobile Kultur , whose aim is to have its contents, including all historical, craft, technical and social marginal areas recognized as intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO .
Since 2001, Wolfgang Blaube has concentrated largely on articles about classic cars. His articles appear mainly in Oldtimer Markt and Auto Bild . Other German-language publications that publish his articles are, for example, Auto Bild Allrad, Porsche Klassik, Mercedes-Benz Classic Magazin, Volkswagen Classic, zwischengas.com, Technology Review , Die Welt / Welt am Sonntag or Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung . He also publishes relevant articles in numerous foreign magazines, such as Octane , Thoroughbred & Classic Cars, Excellence - The Magazine about Porsche, Bimmer , The BMW Magazine , MotorClassic Danmark, Rétroviseur and La Vie d'Auto. There are also humorous series, such as B. the “Blue Salad Oil Diary” ( Auto Bild, 2000–2004). In it, he described his everyday experiences with his VW Golf II Diesel, which he had converted himself to run with fresh and processed vegetable oils and deep-frying fats . In “Elferwette” ( Oldtimer Markt , 2012–2013) he describes how he and his wife and daughter renovate a 1976 Porsche 911 with the aim of keeping all investments under 20,000 euros.
