Wolfgang Fietkau

Wolfgang Fietkau (born April 8, 1935 in Berlin ; †  April 30, 2014 in Kleinmachnow ) was a deacon , journalist , author and publisher .

life and work

From 1952 to 1961, Wolfgang Fietkau trained as a publisher , journalist and deacon in the Evangelical Johannesstift Berlin . From 1959 he worked as a youth deacon and from 1962 to 1967 was an editor at the Evangelical Broadcasting Service, Berlin. From 1967 to 1982 he was a freelance radio and television journalist (focus on "Religion and Society") with numerous contributions on Deutschlandfunk , Saarländischer Rundfunk , Sender Freies Berlin and other ARD broadcasters. From 1983 to 2000 Fietkau was managing director of Wichern-Verlag in Berlin. Since 2001 he has been working again as a freelance journalist and author as well as for the Wolfgang Fietkau Verlag, which he founded. Fietkau is the lyricist of many new sacred songs . He is also the author and editor of non-fiction and specialist books, anthologies, various publications and records.

From 1994 to 2000 Fietkau was chairman of the Association of Evangelical Booksellers. He was a member of the ecumenical lyricists and composers group of the Werkgemeinschaft Musik e. V. and the AG Music in the Ev. Youth e. V., today the lyricists and composers group TAKT .

Wolfgang Fietkau Verlag turned 50 in July 2009. He founded it with start-up capital "exactly 150 marks" and published 44 books by 33 authors, including the poetic work of Dorothee Sölle as well as first editions of contemporary poets in the series "steps", which he repeatedly reprinted with his own hand upon request.

Wolfgang Fietkau died at the age of 79 on April 30, 2014 in Kleinmachnow.
