Wolfgang Huck
Friedrich Waldemar Wolfgang Huck (born September 13, 1889 in Offenbach , † January 22, 1967 in Munich ) was a German publisher ( Münchner Zeitung , Münchner Merkur ).
Life
The son of the newspaper's founder August Huck studied economics in Munich and Heidelberg , where he in 1912 to Dr. phil. received his doctorate. After his father's death, he took over the management of the newspaper company and expanded it by taking over additional papers. During the National Socialist era in 1935, by order of the Reich Press Chamber, he had to cede half of his newspapers and holdings to the NSDAP . Huck became a member of the NSDAP in 1940 . The remaining newspapers had to cease publication in 1943 due to the war.
After the end of the Second World War , Huck was denazified as "unencumbered" in 1946, despite his party membership . He first rebuilt the printing works of the Munich newspaper publishing house . In 1953 it was merged with the publishing house “ Münchner Merkur ”, whose senior boss Huck remained until his death. In 1945 he also joined the book publisher F. Bruckmann KG in Munich as a partner . Like his father, he worked as a patron of art, campaigned for the work of Max Reinhardt and belonged to several boards of trustees and sponsoring societies (sponsor of the Alte Pinakothek , society for the promotion of the Munich Opera Festival , friends of the Bavarian National Museum ).
He was married to the theater actress Camilla Eibenschütz and the Swedish Countess Ragnhild Ingegerd Siri von Trampe.
