Wolfgang Klivana

Wolfgang Klivana (born October 27, 1946 in Vienna ; † February 13, 2020 in Mödling , Lower Austria ) was an Austrian theater actor .

Life

Wolfgang Klivana received his artistic training at the Anna Lamberg-Offer drama school in Vienna. He had his first theater engagements in Germany at the Dinkelsbühl Theater and the Lübeck Municipal Theaters .

At the beginning of the 1973/74 season he was engaged at the Volkstheater Wien , of which he was a permanent member of the ensemble for over 30 years until 2005. At the Volkstheater Vienna he was seen in over 120 roles.

He stepped there u. a. in plays by Shakespeare , Molière , Carlo Gozzi , Goethe , Schiller , Alexander Ostrowski , Arthur Schnitzler , Victorien Sardou , Ferenc Molnár , Friedrich Wolf , Witold Gombrowicz and Pavel Kohout . In the 1973/74 season he was part of the cast of Harald Sommer's premiere. I emphasize that I have absolutely nothing to criticize about the government . In the 1976/77 season he played in the "German-language premiere" (DE) of John Mortimer's Heaven and Hell . In the season 1978/79 he joined the musical production The small café by Ralph Benatzky on. In 1985 he played the plump son Simmerl in the world premiere of the play Zwölfeleuten by Heinz Rudolf Unger ; In this production by Hermann Schmid , he also appeared with the Volkstheaterensemble at the Mülheimer Theatertage . He had great success in the 1987/88 season with the role of clerk Peter in the Nestroy poses Das Gewürzkrämerkleeblatt . He was also one of the "formative players" in Paul Blaha's Volkstheater studio.

From 2005 Klivana worked as a freelance actor. He had engagements at the Wiener Festwochen , at the Theater in der Josefstadt , at the United Theaters in Bozen and at the Neue Bühne Villach. In 2005 he was a guest at the Schloss-Spiele Kobersdorf in Liliom ; In 2010 he played there the roles of Franz Flaut / Thisbe / Motte in the Shakespeare classic A Midsummer Night's Dream .

In addition to his theater work, he was occasionally active in film and television.

In November 2019, Klivana was awarded the professional title of "Professor". Klivana, who also headed an apprentice theater group at the Viennese vocational schools for 15 years, died unexpectedly at the age of 73.
