Wolfgang Korruhn

Wolfgang Korruhn (born August 25, 1937 in Halle (Saale) ; † April 2, 2003 in Cologne ) was a German journalist, television presenter and author.

Life

Korruhn studied medicine , German studies and psychology in Berlin for a few semesters , but then initially worked as a film critic for various daily newspapers and joined WDR in 1969 , where he initially worked in the radio sector (in the program Kritisches Tagebuch ) and later also on television. Among other things, he was a moderator of ARD-Ratgeber: Recht for a while and worked for the ARD focal point .

He gained particular fame through his short interviews for the WDR political magazine ZAK (of which Korruhn was one of the spiritual fathers), in which he stood out for his polite and direct way of asking questions as well as for his own way of being physically very close to the interviewees move. His attention was drawn to an interview with the then Archbishop of Fulda , Johannes Dyba , in which Korruhn involved him in a discussion about homosexuality . In addition to Dyba, Korruhn (together with cameraman Ivo Bulanda ) interviewed over 100 celebrities for ZAK , including Claudia Schiffer , Yehudi Menuhin and Egon Krenz . Golo Mann confessed to Korruhn that he was homosexual a few days before his death. After ZAK was hired , Korruhn interviewed taxi passengers for the ARD morning magazine in its series Taxi Talk .

In addition, the avowed vegetarian produced television documentaries about factory farming and portrayed Eugen Drewermann , Udo Jürgens and Roman Herzog as a book author . Korruhn died on April 2, 2003 at the age of 65 of lymph gland cancer . His grave is in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (lit. U no. 313).
