Wolfgang Leschhorn

Wolfgang Leschhorn (born May 4, 1950 in Hinterweidenthal ) is a German ancient historian and numismatist .

Wolfgang Leschhorn studied history, classical philology and political science at the Saarland University in Saarbrücken . In 1976 he passed the state examination for teaching at grammar schools and received his doctorate in Saarbrücken in 1983 with a dissertation on the subject of Oikistes , Ktistes , Archegetes . Studies on the Greek city founders . He then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton . The habilitation took place again in Saarbrücken in 1991 with the font Antike Ären. Era, politics and history in the Black Sea region and in Asia Minor north of the Taurus . During his time in Saarbrücken, he was initially an assistant from 1979, university assistant in 1986, senior assistant in 1991 and from 1996 private lecturer . He then taught as a private lecturer at the University of Basel , the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg , the University of Leipzig , the University of Salzburg and the University of Vienna . In Leipzig, Leschhorn became an honorary professor for ancient history and ancient numismatics. In 2001 he became a numismatist at the Herzog Anton Ulrich Museum in Braunschweig as well as a lecturer and adjunct professor at the Technical University of Braunschweig , and since the winter semester 2008/09 he has been a research assistant at the History Department of the TU Braunschweig, where he currently represents ancient history with Bernadette Descharmes.
