Wolfgang van Elst

Wolfgang van Elst (* 1962 in Oberammergau ) is a German wood carver , sculptor and medalist .

Life

Wolfgang van Elst attended the vocational school for wood sculptors in his hometown and studied from 1983 to 1989 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . There he became a master student of Hubertus von Pilgrim .

After van Elst made the buildings for the feature film Zoe in 1987 under the direction of Tom Fährmann , he went into business as a freelance sculptor in 1988 and opened his own studio in 1992 in the Jaudenmühle residential area in Habach .

In 2000 Wolfgang van Elst became a member of the Munich Medalists' Circle .

In collaboration with the Gustav van Treeck workshops for mosaics and glass painting , van Elst created the liturgical furnishings such as the ambo plinth, the baptismal bowl , the altar table and the lectern , which were inaugurated on May 6, 2010 in the Jesus Christ Church in Germering .
