Richard Wollek

Richard Wollek (born July 18, 1874 in Innsbruck , † January 14, 1940 in Vienna ) was an Austrian politician ( CS ).

Life

After attending elementary and high school, Wollek studied at the law faculty of the University of Innsbruck . He was the landowner and secretary of the Christian Social Federal Party Leadership in Austria.

He was a member of the Christian Social Party in the Lower Austrian state parliament (1908–1920), from 1911 to 1918 a member of the Reichsrat and from 1920 to 1934 a member of the Nationalrat .

Wollek played a key role in founding the Lower Austrian Farmers' Union in May 1906.

He was also a member of the German Community , a Catholic and German-national oriented secret society that existed from 1919 to 1930 and was dedicated to fighting Freemasons, Socialists, Marxists and Jews.

At the time of Austrofascism Richard Wollek belonged with several other ÖCVers to an "internal opposition" against the corporate state and consequently lost his positions.

Richard Wollek became a primary member of the K.Ö.St.V. Teutonia Innsbruck and as a student of the Catholic student association AV Austria Innsbruck . He also became a member of the KDStV Ferdinandea Prague . In total he was a member of 30 Catholic associations in the associations CV , ÖCV and MKV . Wollek is the founder of the ÖCV's internal job placement, known today as "career advancement", which meant that the ÖCV was able to significantly expand its influence, particularly on public administration. Therefore, Wollek is the namesake of the ribbon 'in vestigiis Wollek', a ribbon of honor that is awarded by the Cartell Association of Austrian Catholic Student Associations as the highest award for outstanding services to members of the association. The Wollek ribbon bears the words Investigiis Wollek in gold letters in the Austrian colors of red-white-red (with a golden lead) and is worn crossed over and with the ribbon of the original connection and ribbon connections.
