Volodymyr Hruza CSsR ( Ukrainian Володимир Груца ; born August 19, 1976 in Dobromyl , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Ukrainian Greek Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop in Lviv .

Life

Volodymyr Hruza joined the Redemptorist Order in 1994 and made perpetual profession in 2000 . After studying at the Redemptorist Seminary in Tuchów and at the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Kraków, he received the sacrament of ordination on July 12, 2001 .

After further studies at the University of Innsbruck from 2003 to 2008 he was with a dissertation on the sacrament of penance in the subject dogma to Dr. theol. PhD . From 2009 to 2012 he directed the religious studies of the Redemptorist Province in Lviv , for which he worked as novice master from 2013 . During this time he taught as a dogmatic lecturer at the Ukrainian Catholic University , at the seminary in Lviv and at the Basilian seminary in Brjuchowytschi .

Pope Francis appointed him titular bishop of Bahanna on January 14, 2016 and confirmed his canonical election as auxiliary bishop in Lviv by the synod of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church . The Grand Archbishop of Kiev-Halych , Svyatoslaw Shevchuk , donated him episcopal ordination on April 7 of the same year . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Lemberg , Ihor Wosnjak CSsR, and the Bishop of Sambir-Drohobytsch , Jaroslav Pryriz CSsR.
