Ralph Bergold

Ralph Bergold (* 1958 in Schwetzingen ) is a German religious educator and adult educator .

Life

From 1980 to 1988, after graduating from high school in Kiel, Ralph Bergold studied Catholic theology, biology and education at the Ruhr University in Bochum and at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster , graduating as a graduate theologian and biologist. After obtaining his doctorate in 1988 in dogmatics on border issues between creation theology and evolutionary biology with Herbert Vorgrimler in Münster, he completed a legal clerkship and the second state examination for the teaching profession in Meppen . He was a consultant for religious education in the school department in the vicariate general of the Hildesheim diocese (1990–1996) and taught at the Josephinum Hildesheim grammar school and was then full-time federal manager of the Catholic Federal Association for Adult Education (KEB) in Bonn (1996–2005). After completing his habilitation in religious education in 2004 at the Otto Friedrich University in Bamberg , he received the venia legendi in religious education and worked as a private lecturer in Bamberg.

Since 2009 he has been an adjunct professor for religious education and didactics of religious education in Bamberg. He has held a permanent visiting professorship at the Philosophical-Theological University of Sankt Augustin since 2010 . He is also a lecturer at the University of Bonn. Since 2005 he has been director of the Catholic Social Institute (KSI) in Siegburg .

He is married and has four kids.

Act

The main areas of teaching and research are religious adult education, the didactics of religious instruction, the teaching of values ​​in educational processes and the learning and educational processes of adults.

He is involved in numerous honorary positions, including as a board member in the Catholic Federal Working Group for Adult Education and as a member of the scientific advisory board of the German Institute for Adult Education (DIE). In addition, he works in the Working Group on Catholic Religious Education and Catechetics (AKRK) and in the International Meeting Center St. Marienthal in Ostritz . He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Cardinal Höffner Foundation and the Board of Directors of the Joseph Höffner Society . He is a member of the Association of Catholic Entrepreneurs (BKU).

Since 2014 he has been chairman of Ordo Socialis , a scientific association for the promotion of Christian social teaching.

He is u. a. since 1996 co-editor of the magazine “EB - Adult Education. Quarterly journal for theory and practice ". From 1992 to 1995 he was responsible for the conception, publication and co-author of the textbook series “Network for Religion and Ethics in Secondary School II”. In 1995 he developed a teaching model for denominational cooperation for Catholic religious teaching in upper secondary level.
