Act

As cathedral provost, Norbert Feldhoff repeatedly expressed the self-confidence of the city of Cologne and Cologne Cathedral . So he greeted Pope Benedict XVI. In 2005 with the words: “ You would certainly not have dreamed that you would one day come back as Bishop of Rome , now accompanied by today's Archbishop of Cologne, Cardinal Meisner , to pray at the grave of the deceased Archbishops. Today you are at the head of tens of thousands of young people who make a pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Three Wise Men to worship Christ the Lord. The Cologne Cathedral Chapter is proud that you are coming here today, and if we see it correctly, Cologne Cathedral is the first cathedral in the world that you visit outside of your diocese of Rome . In Cologne's modesty, we consider this to be entirely appropriate, since, as you know, St. Peter's Basilica in Cologne is the episcopal church of the "Ecclesia Coloniensis semper sedis Apostolicae fidelis filia". "He replied to the Lord Mayor of Cologne, Fritz Schramma , about lighting the pilgrimage candle donated by the city of Cologne (2006): " We know that the city of Cologne is almost nothing without the cathedral. Therefore, it is only right if the mayor lights the pilgrimage candle. "

In 2001 he played as an actor in the TV crime series Tatort in the episode "Beasts". In 2006 he appeared on the TV show “Our best - Germans' favorite places”. Until Christmas 2015 he was an irregular presenter of the classical music program Musica at domradio , in which he presented his own CDs . Since he took office as provost, Feldhoff, like his predecessors in office, has also been regimental priest of the honor guard of the city of Cologne , one of the traditional carnival corps of the city.

In January 2015, Norbert Feldhoff decided to switch off the evening lighting in Cologne Cathedral on the occasion of a planned demonstration of the Pegida movement.
