Peter Haanen
Peter Haanen (* 1936 in Solingen ) is a German Catholic priest , publicist and manager.
Peter Haanen is the son of the well-known Solingen manufacturer and publicist Karl Theodor Haanen. He studied in Bonn theology , among others, Joseph Ratzinger, the future Pope Benedict XVI. , who also preached the sermon at the Primiz in February 1962, three days after Haanen was ordained a priest in Cologne Cathedral . He became known through his own contributions in the program Das Wort zum Sonntag .
Priest stations
Peter Haanen took his first chaplaincy from 1962 to 1967 in St. Joseph in Velbert . This was followed by 6 years as a chaplain in St. Mary's Birth in the Hürth district of Efferen . On March 26, 1973 he was introduced as pastor in St. Pius in Cologne-Zollstock . He spent 38 years there and said goodbye to the congregation on February 22, 2012 with the celebration of his golden jubilee as a priest. From 1987 to 2002 he was also dean of the Cologne-Bayenthal dean's office .
Haanen was made an honorary dean by Cardinal Meisner . Before that he was given the papal honorary title.

In 28 years, Peter Haanen has written the word for Sunday in the Saturday edition for the Kölnische Rundschau 500 times. In German-speaking countries he became known for his numerous contributions to the program “Das Wort zum Sonntag”. He wrote and spoke several times in the WDR the morning prayers under the title Church in WDR . In Domradio he also spoke several times the interpretation of the Gospel .
Economic activities
In 1981, in addition to his pastoral duties, he took over the chairmanship of the Pax-Bank . After twenty years, he switched to the supervisory board and shortly afterwards became chairman of the supervisory board. When he reached the age limit in 2007, he passed the chairmanship of the Supervisory Board to Norbert Feldhoff . He then became an honorary member of the supervisory board.
