The Wolowez Pass ( Ukrainian Воловецький перевал Wolowezkyj perewal , Hungarian Kisszolyvai-hágó ) is a mountain pass in the Ukrainian Carpathians .
The Volovets Pass (other names for the pass are Beskyd or Skotar Pass ) runs at an altitude of 1014 m (other sources call it 974 m ) and lies on the watershed of the Opir rivers , a right tributary of the Stryj ( River system Dniester ) and Wytscha ( Вича , also Witscha Віча ), a left tributary of the Latorica ( Danube river system ).
The passport is still at the border of the oblast Transcarpathians and oblast Lwiw between the villages Skotarske in the oblast Transcarpathians ( volovets raion ) and Oporez in the oblast Lwiw ( Skole ).
On the south side, the slope of the pass is steep but still covered with vegetation. From the north the slopes are gentle and level. The mountain consists of sandstone and slate, is lightly forested and dominated by meadows.
Through the mountain that leads Beskyd tunnel the railway line Lviv-Stryj-Chop and over the pass the road Slavske - Volovets .
During the Second World War , the Árpád Line , a Hungarian line of defense, ran over the pass.
