Workenesh Tola

Workenesh Tola (born June 6, 1977 ) is an Ethiopian marathon runner .

In 2001 she won the Singapore Marathon . The following year she came in 38th place at the World Half Marathon Championships in Brussels and was fourth in the Amsterdam Marathon with 2:29:08 h for the first time under two and a half hours.

As second in the Seoul International Marathon 2003 she increased to 2:25:42 h and was then nominated for the World Athletics Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis , where she finished 46th. The following year she was second again in Seoul and qualified with a time of 2:26:22 h for the marathon of the Olympic Games in Athens , in which she did not reach the finish.

In 2005 a fourth place in Seoul was followed by a fifth place in the Berlin Marathon . In 2007 she was fifth in Seoul and third in the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and the Cologne Marathon . In 2008 she finished second in the Houston Marathon and the Paris Marathon and won the Great Scottish Run . In 2009 she finished twelfth in the Osaka Women's Marathon and sixth in Paris.
