The World Dream ( Chinese 世界 夢 ) is a cruise ship operated by the Dream Cruises shipping company .

history

Construction and commissioning

The World Dream is a sister ship of the Genting Dream and was also built by Meyer Werft under the hull number S.712 . The ship was ordered in February 2014 and it was planned to put the ship into service for Star Cruises . In November 2015, it was announced that both ships would instead come into service for the newly founded Dream Cruises brand . The first steel for the new ship was cut on February 22, 2016. The engine room section was built at the Neptun shipyard in Rostock and transferred to the Meyer shipyard in autumn 2016. As part of Meyer Werft's construction strategy, the first section was undocked on December 17, 2016. The keel laying ceremony took place on January 10, 2017. Another section was undocked on March 3, 2017 to enable the Norwegian Joy to undock . On March 4, 2017, both sections were re-docked. The ship finally left the hangar on August 26, 2017 for further equipment.

On September 17, 2017, the transfer across the Tidenems to Eemshaven began , where the ship arrived on September 18, 2017. After the test drives, the ship was delivered to the client on October 26, 2017 and put into service on November 17, 2017.

The ship cost about $ 960 million.

Special occurrences

On February 5, 2020, the ship was in front of Hong Kong under quarantine provided. The reason for this were passengers infected with the corona virus. The passengers were allowed to leave the ship on February 9, 2020 after a four-day quarantine.
