The World Grand Prix was a major tournament in darts and was organized for the second time by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) from October 20 to 24, 1999 . The venue for the second time was the Casino Rooms in Rochester (Kent) .
The defending champion was Phil Taylor , who won the tournament again for the second time.
format
The tournament was played as a combination of knockout and round tournaments .
The group stage was based on the following system:
Game 1: Player A against Player B
Game 2: Player C against Player D
Game 3: Winner of Game 1 against Winner of Game 2 (Winner reaches the quarter finals)
Game 4: Loser of Game 1 against Loser of Game 2
Game 5: Winner from game 4 against losers from game 3 (winner reaches quarter-finals)
In the group stage, the game was played in the best of 5 sets mode. In the final a best of 11 sets . Each leg was played in 501 double-in-double-out mode.

A total of £ 38,000 in prize money was distributed. The prize money was distributed among the participants as follows:
